1. Who this policy covers
This policy explains how Nifty News Screener ("we", "us") handles information in connection with the website at niftynewsscreener.com and the Nifty 50 News Screener Windows desktop application (together, the "Service"). It applies to visitors of the website and to licensed users of the application.
2. Information collected on the website
The website itself does not require an account and does not run advertising trackers. Two forms of data pass through it:
- Product reviews. If you use the review form, we collect the name, email address, star rating and review text you submit. Submissions are sent to a moderation queue before any review is published, and the review text and display name may be shown publicly on the site once approved.
- Purchases. Checkout is handled entirely by Gumroad, a third-party payment processor. We do not see or store your card number or other payment details — Gumroad collects your email address and payment information directly under its own privacy policy, and shares with us only what is needed to fulfil and license your order (your email address and order reference).
The site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which may receive your IP address as a normal part of serving font files to your browser.
3. Information collected by the desktop application
The application is designed to keep your data on your own machine:
- Local history. Headlines, per-stock sentiment snapshots, price ticks used for trade-entry checks, and the alert log are stored in a single history file under your Windows user profile. This file never leaves your computer unless you choose to back it up or export it yourself. A "Clear local history" control in Settings lets you delete it at any time, and an "Export to CSV" control lets you copy it out.
- Licence verification. When you activate the app, the email address and licence key you enter are sent once to our payment platform (Gumroad) to verify the purchase. The verified result is then cached locally so future launches do not need to call out again.
- Live market data. On each scan, the app requests the current constituent list and last-traded prices from the exchange, and pulls headlines from sixteen public news feeds. These are read-only requests for public data; they do not carry your identity.
The application has no telemetry, no analytics, no crash reporting and no cloud sync. Nothing about how you use the app — which tabs you open, which stocks you watch, which alerts fire — is transmitted anywhere.
4. How we use information
- To verify your licence and let the application activate.
- To moderate, publish and, where necessary, respond to reviews submitted through the website.
- To respond if you contact us directly with a question or support request.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
5. Third-party services
We rely on a small number of third parties to run the Service, each acting under its own privacy policy:
- Gumroad — payment processing and licence verification.
- Google Fonts — webfont delivery for the website.
- The exchange and the sixteen public news feeds — read-only sources of market and news data queried by the desktop application.
6. Data retention
Local application history stays on your machine indefinitely, until you clear it yourself. Review submissions are retained for as long as needed for moderation and display, or until you ask us to remove one. Purchase and licence records are retained by Gumroad in line with its own policies and applicable tax and accounting requirements.
7. Your choices
You can clear or export your local application history at any time from the Settings window. You can ask us to remove a review you submitted, or to tell you what information we hold about you, by contacting us at the address below.
8. Children's privacy
The Service is intended for adults evaluating and using financial-market software and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the limited information we hold, but no method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
11. Contact
Questions about this policy, or requests relating to your data, can be sent to support@niftynewsscreener.com.
